Welcome to The Layout #9 everyone. A tough week is almost close to an end. Well, let’s get the show started.
To Risk Or To think
I recalled a scenario from a Spiderman comic read years ago. So basically, Dr. Octopus hijacked Peter Parker's body and was trying to become the "Superior" Spider-man i.e to be more logical and technical when fighting crime.
Later in the comic series, he started losing control of his inventions and gadgets due to the Green Goblin and there was a certain scene where the Green Goblin put a civilian on the train track with the train about to pass through.
Doc Ock. was thinking about whether if he saved the person, it was a trap set by the green goblin and whether he should conserve his energy to prepare for the big fight with the green goblin. Then, Peter Parker still trapped in his body shouted at him to jump and save the civilian and Doc. Ock did it on instinct. This scenario has lessons for us because we might be stuck in a situation where we are trying to look for all the logical reasons whether to do something or not to do something. This can keep us in action paralysis and hinder us from trying or participating in something. Life is always uncertain and sometimes you have to take a plunge to see whether it works or not.
Sometimes it all goes astray.
What do you know, you planned the perfect week, and you have crafted the scenarios. You have done the UX user cases. You have figured everything out, Haven't you? Your product or case study is published and you feel pretty great and primed for success.
Then something irregular hits. You didn't expect that or that or that or maybe not that to happen. Well, the harsh reality is that this is life. Sometimes, things hit so hard that you didn't even see it coming. You may have all the fancy equipment or AI or whatever. If it wants to hit, it will hit. The question is will you sit down and take the hit or find a resolution? It is this resolution that gives you an edge when future hits or scenarios happen. Salud.
