Obsession is the cure?
Obsession gets a bad rap due to its glaring downsides, which makes us lose sight of its advantages. The most obvious one would be that obsession removes the "gnawings" of the heart. What the heck does that mean? You know, that feeling that makes you feel everything is pointless, makes your mind find escape in social media, games, etc. That gnawing feeling that you are not living up to what you were meant to be. These distractions do succeed in shutting down that feeling, but after a while, it comes up again. Obsession may be the cure to such feelings, but this just shouldn't be any obsession. It should be an obsession that is worthwhile and profitable for you and the people around you. Something that significantly improves your craft or something that makes a dent in the world around you, be it locally or globally. I am not saying you need to build the next Facebook or something. I am just saying you need to have a passion project that displays what you can do and gives wonder to the outside world.
Consume thoughtfully
Thoughtfulness means "with intention". This means things are done with intention, purpose, and a sense of direction. So, consuming thoughtfully would be consuming things with intention, which requires filtering the content, i.e., things we see or hear, to match our intentions or purpose. This needs practice. You could say this requires thoughtfulness. Laying out the parameters or things that we need to know more about, using such parameters to guide what we see or think in the broader world. Consuming thoughtfully can make or break whether we achieve what we actually seek; otherwise, we might fall into a hole too deep to climb out of.
