Welcome to The Layout #75. The Substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to level up. It’s been an eventful week but let’s get to it. New poster too.
Create the crust
Creating the hard parts of any project or time is the vital because it is the basis, foundation or main attraction of it. The crust acts something that piques interest and makes the user or viewer to dig even deeper to understand the inner workings or styles associated with that project. Also, this is where most projects die. Creating crust requires multiple iterations, sessions, brainstorming, letting go of old and static patterns etc. It is difficult to achieve but not impossible. The early steps in creating your crust are to lay out what is actually needed with a clearly defined scope and clear and well-defined goal to measure progress. "Crunch"
Don't forget to smile
Just smile more! One can hate this statement because some situations we encounter can be of great pain and sorrow to us. So why smile, well why not. It was a thought or something that I actually realized down the years which goes like this "In the end, the situation has already happened, why not smile or be hopeful in that moment." The situation has passed but we can be trapped by our fear and sorrows or we can plod on and smile and hope for the best we can. After all, it doesn't cost anything, just a little grin or inner light does the trick.
