Welcome to The Layout #73. The Substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to level up. It’s been an eventful week but let’s get to it. Also, you can notice the poster up top that I created.
Headloss Blues
Losing our heads in critical moments that require patience or temperance is a flaw that is inherent in us. These moments happen too quickly which make us to assume that if we don't react quickly, we will lose sight or control of that critical moment and it will backfire on us. It is a feeling that creates the illusion of time speeding up quickly which traps your thoughts and ideas in a tunnel vision which makes you ignore ideas from everyone else. To be calm during these moments require patience and a standard set of values that you won't compromise which helps to shape the way you react when those situations occur. Calm.
Embrace the Real.
Formulation of theories and ideas are great but do they work in reality. Knowledge is gained by practical application of ideas to see whether it works or not and noting down the results and observations from such experiments. This process is dynamic act of creativity which involves the originator of such ideas or theories to prove whether it has any real-world viability or not. A critical error when such process is applied is not focusing on small zones for testing of such ideas which can lead to catastrophic results if such ideas go awry. Embracing reality is tough because they can make ideas that seem grand and beautiful on paper but in the real world, it can't be replicated. The world is dynamic, somethings are not always what they seem which is why it is critical to constantly test such ideas to learn and adapt. Breathe
