Welcome to The Layout #65. The substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to use.
Be proud of your work by showing it.
The best way to show you are proud of your work is by spreading the word about your work. That's right, all those sketches or projects that looked disappointing in your own eyes need to be shown outside. This could be on social media, with friends, colleagues, etc. What you see as disappointing could be seen as inspiring, creative, and exceptional by others. This also helps you get critical feedback that can improve your creative process when attempting future projects.
Lock In
Getting locked in means cutting off all distractions and other things that hinder you from achieving your goal. Locking in means doing things that you need to do but you don’t do because something holds you back. It could be fears, distractions, etc. that hold you back from what you could be. The first step to lock in is to write down the things we want to achieve, what the blockers that are currently preventing us from reaching those goals, and how to eliminate them during the Lock In period and set a date to start the Lock in period and when it will be ended if needed. It’s time to dig in
