We have to observe from above.
We are too focused on what is around us and we don't even try to look from above. It reminds me of a funny quip from a book I read, the character realized that nobody observed when he changed into his costume and flew because people most of the time hardly looked up. Observing from above requires us to elevate our eyes above our environments or even our world and see things from a different perspective and how things are laid out from above. This involves active imagination and an active sense of letting go of what can be currently observed. This can be of great benefit when trying to achieve your goal.
Enter and understand the black box.
Black boxes are primarily things that are integrated into our daily lives that we don't even bother noticing. This could be some physical actions such as walking, talking, running, etc., or some things we interact with in our daily lives such as selecting a specific design tool e.g. rectangle tool, ellipse tool, etc. that just works. Understanding the black boxes around us leads to understanding how those actions can exist, what are the inner workings that make such actions possible and how can we apply them to enhance our work or lives. This requires deep thinking and understanding of the systems or processes and actions that are invisible to us but are critical for our daily survival. We can start with simple things like how to walk better?, and how to sleep faster. Jow does the rectangle tool really work? and so on. This enhances learning and so much more
