Welcome to The Layout #48. The substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to level up. Welcome back everyone, It’s been a good week. Let’s get on with it
Read The Details
Details are things that are not obvious to everyone if ignored. Certain details can be noticed about people, objects, legal documents(yeah, duh), etc. We have been given observation skills to recognize these details and utilize them in our everyday lives. Noticing these details gives you a higher appreciation of how things work, makes you avoid certain agreements that will cause future problems, discover unique discrepancies in everyday objects and what could be done to improve them, etc. We mostly miss these details because of information overload which forces us to default to simplistic conclusions and perspectives. You could foster this skill by just reducing the information(social media etc.) you receive and observing your surroundings when bored
Be Calm
Calmness gives strength and stability in chaotic situations. Being calm exudes confidence that is infectious and makes people around you believe even though everything seems dire. Being calm requires a sense of stoicness and being out of time. What does this mean? It means where everything seems in a rush and done in haste, an individual brings a sense of clarity and focus amidst the chaos. Essentially, focusing on what you can control and what you can't A hard quality to have but something very transformative in our lives
