Innovator’s Dilemma
In certain situations, our worst enemies are ourselves. This is shown through the Innovator's Dilemma. This dilemma occurs when established companies discover a breakthrough in their core field or industry but fail to realize its potential because it threatens their core business. Kodak was an analog camera company i.e. most of its revenue came from physical camera and film sales. Kodak was one of the early pioneers of digital camera technology but missed the wave when it became mainstream and almost faded into irrelevance. This likely happened because such technology was so radical that it threatened Kodak's business model so it was tossed aside only to be used for internal operations and processes. Sometimes, we face our own innovator's dilemma when doing things. We could stumble upon unlikely innovations or processes that threaten our understanding of a certain subject but may be too radical to comprehend. This situation requires a lot of deep thinking and a Big Picture mentality to be successfully solved. Wishing you luck when you encounter such scenarios.
