Welcome to The Layout #34. The substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to level up. Now, let’s get on with it.
Crossing The Line
The thing that top performers don’t usually tell is how they crossed the “line” to get to where they are now. What is this “line” you say? The “line” is the point that when crossed will involve putting large amounts of dedication, focus, and intensity into certain tasks or skills. When the line gets crossed, there is no going back. The discipline and dedication needed promote consistency. Consistency is the key variable to future success but it comes with a price. You must sacrifice the things that gratify you now for your future aspirations. It looks simple from afar, I mean giving up your social media use and any other activity that is not aligned with what you want to achieve. It is painful but this is why they are the top performers in their range. Not everyone gets to be one.
Do The Thing
Just do the thing. You know that thing that you talked to your friends about last summer. Or the thing, you told your parents last month. Telling others about the thing, writing about how to do the thing, and pondering about how to do the thing doesn’t beat just doing the thing. Just do the thing.
