Welcome to The Layout #26. The substack about design that makes life a little easier with fun insights and key resources for you to level up. Now, let’s get on with it.
Ignore the whirlpool
In our day, there are things or events that happen in real life and on the internet that seek our attention. This could be a social event or certain situations that act as fly traps for people's opinions in and around them. It is like a whirlpool, a blast of incendiary information which swirls and swirls trying to suck you in to give opinions on complex issues in 2mins.
At that moment, we are most vulnerable to saying things that we might regret later in our lives and consequences that we might not be able to live with for a long time. Going off the cuff might lead to profound opinions, opinions meant to cause further anger or to gain clout and primacy. Ignoring the whirlpool is difficult in the modern era but vital for clarity of mind and a clear thinking process.
Be Bored
Being bored to me means appreciating the mundane tasks and feelings in this world. Things that make life slow down are necessary for achieving balance in our fast-paced world.
Also, when bored your mind can wander through different areas or scenarios subconsciously which can lead to great insights and eurekas. Is this easy? Heck no. It is difficult for everyone but not impossible to start. Starting could be just staring at the wall for just 10 minutes and adding 2 minutes when you are comfortable with it. During this period involves not thinking just a blank mind state. It is difficult but essential. Stay blessed my friends.
