Welcome to The Layout #11 everyone. It’s been a rough week but we keep moving by his grace. It’s been exciting and dull but that is the dichotomy of life I guess.
Focus Blues
Imagine your average workday, now think about how many hours you are actually productive that day. We tend to lose track of time but if you notice only about 2-3 hours of an average workday is actually productive. I call these the focus hours. These are the hours the average worker is actually
productive and delivers very high-level work. Why does this happen? Well for most humans, it is very difficult to be highly productive throughout the day.
The key to increasing your hours is to eliminate distractions, set open and achievable goals, and good nutrition. Also, when you know you have reached your limit. Take a rest and continue after a while. Aim for consistency daily instead of brute force.
The Basics Retro
Fortify on the basics. It could be alignment, colours, alphabets, lines, research, etc. Fortifying the basics will give you the tools to understand and solve the complex problems that will come at your feet. It is basically the map and repository that we will use to navigate any field we are in. Is this easy? No. Sometimes it becomes a mindless exercise, revising the same material every day. I am guilty of this. The results don't show immediately but it compounds slowly then it reaches a breaking point and boom, mastery, and competence. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
